Interpersonal Spatial Arrangements is a fascinating project by British artist Roanna Wells documenting the patterns of crowds at certain happy or macabre moments in time. Individuals are reduced and abstracted to a single black stitch in wool. There is no geography or any other markers of place and time to contextualize these works… other than the title and the shape of the crowd.

Kate Keara Pelen created these embroideries for Liberty London via Dear Ada. Read her interview about the series here.
“I’ve always wanted my work to be something that was ‘lived with’ – like Matisse, who wanted his work to be experienced in the same way as ‘a comfortable chair’. I want my work to lure you in with simple beauty, and then take you by surprise!” – Pelen via the Liberty London blog

Mathew Tom via Hoxton Art Gallery. Tom is an American artist living in London. His recent work is heavily influenced by his time in India. By seamlessly weaving together aspects of Indian and Western visual culture, Tom’s paintings mess with your head a bit (as good art is known to do).
“Toms’ art places strong emphasis on symmetrical meticulousness… The artist can be seen to reference the stylisation of nature but with an ironic coil, harking to the aesthetic debates over ornamentation and its relationship to mass consumerist culture.” – Hoxton Art
