That’s The Jealous Curator to many of you! Here’s what you may not know, but should…
A. Danielle, aka The Jealous Curator, is an artist herself.
B. She is a really TALENTED artist working primarily in collage (yes, those are old Playboy cut-outs)
C. She has a kick-ass show, Blush, right now on Buy Some Damn Art.

Do you know this lady? I’m speaking of artist / blogger / curator Danielle Krysa aka The Jealous Curator. After posting about the emotional roller-coaster of being an artist and receiving a mountain of responses, she decided to turn the discussion into an Ace Camp workshop: The Art of Confidence (October 20-23). Such a smart (and compassionate!) cookie, that Danielle.

I love these paintings by Chelsea Bentley James which I spotted over at The Jealous Curator. The subject matter (beat-up bathrooms and institutional hallways) is so unassuming and yet James renders her chosen subject (the meaning of which we can only speculate) with passion and profoundness.

“Painting is a study of our existence, spirit, and environment, derived from experiences in life. I choose objects that evoke childhood memories, create situations of atmospheric mystery, and bring visual interest through interaction. I’m intrigued by subtle shifts in value and color; yet seek a personal interpretation of the objects rather than a replication. Personality is revealed through the process of painting. Abstract remnants from my process remain visible in the final product. The hand must obey the spirit. ” – Chelsea Bentley James

.Her paintings remind me a lot of Jennie Ottinger’s work.

Are you someone’s guest this weekend? Me too! Indie art maven, The Jealous Curator, asked me over and I jumped on the chance to tell you about my latest crush, Sarah Rutherford. Sarah’s understated illustrations grace the pages of Brooklyn eatery Frankies 457‘s new cookbook. Turns out she used to work there too!

A big, big thanks to The JC for inviting me over! It’s an honor to be in such great company!
