Mixed media pieces by Emily Leonard via Design For Mankind. Leonard’s art is deeply rooted within the landscape of her picturesque and history-laden birthplace of Tennessee. Emily’s paintings aren’t traditional representational landscapes but instead convey the land’s multi-faceted, ever-changing nature and leave plenty of room for personal experience and interpretation.

Tree Portrait in Pink
Rather than painting the tree out the kitchen window, I want to paint what it feels like to stand at the kitchen window, looking at the tree while your kettle boils. The moments of mindlessly casting a gaze upon something are to me filled with the real plain life, the simple breath of it all. – excerpt from artist statement
