Art Hound

Sarah Brenneman’s paintings are currently featured on Buy Some Damn Art meaning I’ve had the pleasure of spending a good deal of time going through her work. One of my favorite things about Sarah’s work is that her color choices are so bold and uncharacteristic of watercolors.  These pieces, all from 2010, show Sarah really pushing the limits of  the medium.

Sarah Brenneman has worked with watercolors for the last 10 years and has developed a keen ability to push the medium in new directions. Brenneman also uses collage, often cut out from older work, to create layers and clean edges not normally possible with watercolors. This process of reuse and rebirth parallels the botanical themes in Brenneman’s work. Sarah lives in Brooklyn and is represented by Jeff Bailey Gallery.
