New work by Ingrid van der Zalm

June 19th, 2016 · No Comments

Ingrid van der Zalm makes beautiful textiles I featured back in 2012. Today the artist’s tumblr is full of powdery, ephemeral installations created with plaster, food coloring, acrylic glass, limescale remover powder, water and washing powder. These naturalist pieces are studies in compositions.

subverting the man: liliana porter

January 19th, 2012 · 5 Comments

Liliana Porter’s work has so much humor in it. In these installations her tiny figurines tackle monstrous jobs yet seem unfazed. We see the absurdity but the figures don’t.

Massimals

August 16th, 2011 · 1 Comment

These animal sculptures by  D.O.T.S. are called Massimals and were constructed of easily-recognizable materials such as cardboard and styrofoam (via of paper and things). The last two shots are the Zip Tie Massimal – made of 20,000 zip ties.
