Melbourne Dance Company

February 10th, 2012 · 1 Comment

Identity and poster design for the Melbourne Dance Company by Josip Kelava via all the mountains. It’s a simple concept but it’s totally awesome how the text wraps around the dancer’s body like typographic jewelry.

Design Crush: Studio 3

February 8th, 2012 · No Comments

A History of Graphic Design For Rainy Days and Hyperactivitypography by Studio 3 via Pikaland. Studio 3 is an in-school design agency consisting of 15 3rd year graphic design students at Westerdals School of Communication in Oslo. I am enamored with the concept of giving kids (and curious grown-ups) opportunities to interact with graphic design and typography. These books look so fun, don’t they?

new work by christopher david ryan

Christopher David Ryan of More & Co is an awesome designer/artist. I’m digging his new work which melds sci-fi-esque graphics with a surprisingly soft (one might even say PASTEL) palette, especially this first piece.

Totally awesome book: Naive

October 4th, 2009 · No Comments

Naive cover

This weekend I picked up this amazing book full of eye candy @ Zakka NYC in Dumbo. This is the first book I’ve come across that totally nails the current style in graphic design and art that, while decidedly modern, has strong influences of mid-century design and folk art.  It’s an aesthetic that I love for it’s simplicity, warmth and sense of humor.

Featured artists and designers include Matte Stephens, Jen Ski, Helen Dardik, Kate Sutton, El Jefe, The Heads of State and many others.
