Artist of the day: Evan Hecox

Evan Hecox, a Denver-based designer/illustration, has a show at Joshua Liner Gallery in NYC through Saturday, Oct 10th. Hecox’s recent paintings are based on his photography of street life in foreign places but are explicitly personal, a reflection of his experience at the moment he snapped the photo. In each piece, certain details pop out through the use of color while everything else is darkened, flattened and abstracted. Hecox himself takes us through his process in the following clip:
