Artist Crush: Valerie Belmokhtar

November 23rd, 2010 · 2 Comments

Parisian artist, Valerie Belmokhtar reached out to share her work, and I am totally enamored with her exquisite drawings and etchings. The obsessive repetitions and fading are wonderful foils for the psychological fragility of the artist’s subjects, who include Psyche, the Greek goddess of the soul. These women appear to be having out-of-body experiences, less rooted in reality than they are floating through a sea of emotion.

Beautiful Line Drawings by Valentina Ramos

October 27th, 2010 · No Comments

Valentina Ramos is a Venezuelan artist living and work in Miami who has a wonderful, detailed drawing style all her own. Ramos worked as a graphic designer for 15 years before dipping into more creative waters. Today the artist sells her original drawings and prints as well as fabrics, pillows and iphone cases. Aren’t her drawings mesmerizing? I love the simplicity of the black on white.

I was inspired this week by these awesome leggings on Pixie Market and this calming screen print by Los Angeles artist, Claire Nereim. Unfortunately I’m not much of a leggings girl, but I love the pattern! The print is part of Claire’s series Drift (which I believe refers to drift wood) and another print in the series is currently for sale here.
