Design Crush: April Hannah

April 5th, 2011 · 1 Comment

Brooklynite April Hannah has worked in acrylic and charcoal for years but has more recently ventured into large-scale sculpture and furniture. Hannah’s new work has been very well received: she recently finished an artist residency at the Museum of Arts and Design and will be participating in Wanted Design, a satellite ICFF show, May 13-16.

While many artists are fearful of venturing into the world of design, Hannah jumped right in. And what’s so cool about her sculpture and furniture is how fluently it relates to her paintings – her totems and furniture explore the same shapes and spacial concepts as her 2-D work. The idea of art in design is alive and well in Hannah’s work.
