sasha goldberger: mamika

Thursday, September 22, 2011 · 7 Comments

Mamika is the alter-ego of  Sasha Goldberger’s 91 year old grandmother. The story goes that Sasha realized his grandmother was lonely and dreamed up a collaborative photo project to lift her spirits. All I can say is this woman is a star (via Honestly WTF).

These photos blew my mind. My grandmother has the alzheimer and we always do crazy stuff like this, just to lift her spirits, but it had never occurred to me to make art out of it. Brilliant.

this series, as well as Sasha’s new collaboration with his grandmother and her sidekick, are a true combination of love and art. Beautifully done!

lily – that’s incredible that you do crazy stuff like this with your grandmother! i wonder if anyone has studied the benefits of art/play/dress-up therapy for the elderly.
