Design Crush: Wagashi

Tuesday, April 26, 2011 · 4 Comments

Wagashi are small Japanese confections that are often served with tea. I came across these photographs on flickr (thanks to a friend) that really capture the aesthetic, simplicity and incredible attention to detail that goes into these dishes. And, yes, this is total food porn for someone obsessed with Japanese food and design like me. The set has over 20,000 views so at least I’m not alone.

Wow! I LOVE these! I am a big fan of Japanese food and tableware…actually, I love all things Japanese. Thanks for posting these! I have added the photographer as a contact on Flickr so that I can keep up with her photos. 🙂

Wow is right! I love that I am not the only one who uses the phrase “food porn” on a regular basis. For a moment I forgot what site I was on and started looking for the recipe link. Thanks for sharing these!

lovely. I love one of those wagashi plates with collective flavors/seasonal designs – something like this: http://www.kashow-domon.com/products1.html (third from the top)
