Artist Crush: Ashley Percival

Saturday, February 26, 2011 · 6 Comments

Ashley Percival is an illustrator and recent grad from Falmouth University in the UK who says she gets most of her inspiration from wildlife and nature. Her work was featured on a blog I highly recommend called Best of Etsy. Ashley’s furry and feathered friends are quirky, irresistibly cute and full of human-like character. I can just picture them in their own storybook.

I do like it but it reminds me alot of Julia Pott and Stefan Thompson’s work. A mixture between them.
There seem to be alot of artists out there working ‘like that’, like it’s a trend or something! 🙂

I typically don’t care for this type of drawing but these have a humor that is endearing. Thanks for posting!

I agree with you both that it’s kind of a peculiar style but it’s very well-done and the animals are indeed very endearing.

I agree, it’s too much like Julia Pott’s work. Fed up of seeing so many copycats!

I’d be hesitant to call someone a copycat unless they were blatantly ripping off another artist but yes, successful artists in the online world like Ashley G or Julia Pott are bound to inspire other artists.
