Artist Crush: Hiromichiito

Wednesday, July 21, 2010 · 1 Comment

Hiromichiito is a Japanese artist and illustrator with a beautiful, loose style and a great sense of humor. His paintings transport us into a child’s world, full of wonder and magically safe from all harm. Hiromichiito definitely fits the archetype of the artist who is perpetually young at heart. And that’s a good thing!

“I made the painting for X-mas show at Gallery House Maya. I wanted to say that boys should have dreams all the time even if the dreams won’t come true. The boy just started with his friend “Tapir,” but Tapir has to eat somebody’s dreams. So the boy’s dream is always eaten by Tapir, but he never gives up!”

.

“Convenience stores at night, kind of beautiful. I feel strange from the outside. Convenience stores look warm but also cold too. Yes, Convenience stores are strange places. I will paint other Convenience stores soon.”

.

“This is about US Route 101.The bears want to see The Grateful Dead Live. So They decided to go to SF.”
